Oldfield A are within touching distance with a game in hand after a 23-13 home win against Radstock A. Alistair Pearson and Jamie Phillips managed maximums for Oldfield. However Bathford A stay top by 11 points with a 26-11 away win. It was Oldfield C that fell to the form of Peter Mott who put in an impressive MOTM performance for Bathford.

The two other games were a lot tighter. There was an inter-club battle between Bath Invaders A and B resulting in a 24-21 win for the A team. Raymond Hall was the MOTM for Simon Monk’s men in a match of two half’s with the B side finishing strong.

Finally Bathford B beat Oldfield B 22-20 as both teams keen to score well to keep away from the bottom two.  Teenager Will Avery was MOTM for Bathford with the match settled in the fourth set of the doubles.

Division One

Bear Flat A keep the top spot with the top three teams securing wins.

Bear Flat battled well against an experienced Ensleigh A side with Captain Paul Green the stand out performer, securing the 23-15 win. Yatton Keynell A gained four points on the leaders with a 27-7 win against Key Centre A; Yatton only dropped the doubles on the way to a near perfect win.

Bitton also gained on the leaders with a strong 30-3 win against bottom side Bathford C. These results leave Yatton and Bitton with a game in hand on Bear Flat as we start to approach the ‘business end’ of the season.

There were also wins for the fourth, fifth and sixth placed teams.

Yatton Keynell B won 26-14 against Key Centre B; Adam Dawes and Bryan Taylor gaining maximums. Radstock B fought well against the experience of Oldfield D with left hander Wayne Button gaining MOTM.

Finally Ensleigh A played their second match of the week and put behind the defeat to the leaders with a dominant 29-12 away win against Batheaston. Pen holder Ping Zhang was MOTM backed up with Ian Clark winning his sets.

Division Two

Chippenham C’s promotion bid hit a small bump as they couldn’t overcome the form of Tim Cahill’s Bear Flat B side, losing 17-24 at home. This keeps a good distance for the unbeaten Bears at the top of the league.

Nothing could separate Oldfield E and Batheaston B, 21-21, at Monkton Combe. Oldfield’s Lee Bailey played out an epic five setter against Chris Sharp to pip him to MOTM in the 7th set.

Bathford D picked up their third win of the season, 19-15, and increased the distance between them and bottom placed Ensleigh B. Unfortunately Ensleigh could only field two players yet Martin Lynch was MOTM for Ensleigh.

Finally the form book was upside down in the last two results.

Bear Flat C beat fifth placed Mayfield 21-18 away; Martin Rogers and Miles Hartwell were in great form for Bear Flat. The other upset was Yatton Keynell C’s home win against Key Centre C 21-15; Yatton’s Richard Terrell and Tony Payne provided too strong for the Keynsham side.
